A DRUNK driver sat in his crashed car swilling Buckfast and shouting abuse at people on a street at 7.30 in the morning then tried to drive off when police arrived. Kris Johnstone who later confessed to boozing all night hurled his tonic wine in the direction of vehicles which had been backed-up on Gourock s Broomberry Drive by his smashed BMW. He made repeated attempts to start the car s engine but the ignition failed to engage because airbags had deployed and he was also oblivious to a front wheel having been knocked askew. Johnstone, 33, has been heavily fined a total of £1,275 for a string of offences committed in the wake of an alcohol-fuelled fallout with his girlfriend and banned from the roads for 15 months.

Larkfield lady launches perfume business for good causes

A LARKFIELD lady is turning sweet smells into cash for good causes. Charity worker Suzie Gallagher has set up a new social enterprise - Scents for Good - from her own home. It s already raised £500 with family, friends and neighbours all supporting the page. Suzie is selling a range of perfumes and cosmetics with all money raised going to local community groups supporting children and families in the area. The 48-year-old suffers from an autoimmune condition and has had to shield for the last year during the pandemic. But she has been determined to help others on her own doorstep.

Caroline Rennie died on her family’s farm near her hometown in Turriff, Aberdeenshire, on Saturday afternoon (3 April). Emergency services were called to farmland, where machinery was being used, just off the A947 Aberdeen to Banff Road, about two miles south of the town, at about 3.45pm.
