A DRUNK driver sat in his crashed car swilling Buckfast and shouting abuse at people on a street at 7.30 in the morning — then tried to drive off when police arrived.
Kris Johnstone — who later confessed to boozing 'all night' — hurled his tonic wine in the direction of vehicles which had been backed-up on Gourock's Broomberry Drive by his smashed BMW.
He made repeated attempts to start the car's engine but the ignition failed to engage because airbags had deployed — and he was also oblivious to a front wheel having been knocked askew.
Johnstone, 33, has been heavily fined a total of £1,275 for a string of offences — committed in the wake of an alcohol-fuelled fallout with his girlfriend — and banned from the roads for 15 months.
