To improve vax turnout, more walk-ins planned | Noida News

Photo for representative purpose only NOIDA/GHAZIABAD: Hoping to get more recipients to turn up for vaccine doses, the health departments in Noida and Ghaziabad are planning to open walk-in drives at their vaccination centres. Earlier, the health department in Noida had planned to send teams from vaccination centres with low turnouts to villages and societies to help bridge the demand-supply gap, which the district has been facing for the past 20 days. Officials in both Noida and Ghaziabad said that 25-30% of the registered recipients do not turn up for the jab. These slots will now be used for walk-in recipients after noon. “We were planning to send teams into villages to increase vaccinations. However, there are logistical issues with the plan,” said Dr Neeraj Tyagi, district immunisation officer, GB Nagar.

The district had announced its plans to start vaccination camps in highrise societies as part of its mega inoculation programme from July 1 and residents’ bodies had decided to hold free sessions with the government. But the programme was postponed after the district faced a shortage of doses in the last week of June. “We had spoken to officials about organising free inoculation camps and we were going to start those from July 5. Gzb gets 11 5k doses, Noida 8k; govt vax sites to stay open today | Noida News

Noida/Ghaziabad: As the health department continues to struggle with the daily vaccination programme in most places, Ghaziabad received 11,500 doses on Sunday and Noida got 8,000 doses. No vaccination drive was conducted in Gautam Budh Nagar and Ghaziabad on Sunday but officials said all government centres will operate on Monday. Vaccination drives for pregnant women have started in Gautam Budh Nagar and over 50,000 such women are likely to get the jabs in the next few days, officials said. “We have enough doses for now and we are getting a fresh batch daily. There is no shortage as such but people will have to remain patient and wait for their turns. We can assure residents that the vaccine supply will improve in a few days,” said Dr Neeraj Tyagi, district immunisation officer, Gautam Budh Nagar.

Co-WIN shows merged sessions, many recipients left confused | Noida News

Noida: A recent change on Co-WIN, where the portal has merged all sessions at vaccination centres, has led to confusion among vaccine recipients in the past two days. While earlier there were various sessions available for three different age groups 18-44, 45-59 and 60-plus the portal now shows just one category for all recipients who are over 18 years of age. This is leading to confusion, especially among those in the 45+ or 60+ categories who booked their first dose but can’t find their group on the portal now. Officials said that this is also the reason for fewer government centres being displayed on the portal now. “While there were various centres under the district hospital earlier, there is only one centre showing now. Everyone can book a slot in the 18+ category.
