Small world: Jim LeBlanc builds replicas of Leominster landmarks

Danielle Ray LEOMINSTER - Jim LeBlanc thinks small. As in replicas, that is. Since retiring in 2011 after working 38 years as the senior custodian at Memorial Middle School in Fitchburg, LeBlanc has been creating replicas of Leominster landmarks, including his latest creation the historic train depot building in the city’s downtown. “I thought the Leominster depot would be a good subject since it is a landmark in the town and a beautiful building,” he said. The 1/32 scale replica, which LeBlanc built completely from scratch, lights up and is made from 2,000 handcrafted bricks. It took him roughly six months to make – 1,000 hours of time. LeBlanc said he is willing to part with it for $950.
