Stellenbosch University SRC member killed in alleged hit-and-run
Police confirmed that a culpable homicide case was opened for Stellenbosch University student who was killed in an alleged hit-and-run.
The South African Police Services (SAPS) confirmed the student’s death and that an investigation is underway.

Dr Choice Makhetha,senior director of student affairs said they were devastated by Buthelezi’s death.
“Information available to the university is that Ms Buthelezi passed away after suffering injuries caused by an alleged hit-and-run incident in Merriman Avenue, Stellenbosch. Ms Buthelezi, a BSc student from Gauteng, resided in a senior residence on campus,” the university said.

According to the National Weather Service, the record snowfall for any Feb. 1 remains the 14 inches that hit the city in 1898. The 13.8 inches on Monday remains the second highest count, ahead of the 7.6 inches recorded in 2011.
