Chapel Hill, N.C. The Mount Tabor Spartans are the 3AA football state champions after 24-16 win over the Cleveland Rams in Chapel Hill on Thursday night.
The Spartans got the scoring started in the first quarter when Tyress McIntyre connected on a deep ball with Lance Patterson for a 70-yard touchdown pass to claim an early 7-0 lead.
Tabor threatened to strike once again after McIntyre carried the ball to the Cleveland three, but a false start penalty set the Spartans back and the Rams blocked a field goal after forcing a fourth down scenario.

Clayton, N.C. The Cleveland Rams defeated the Clayton Comets in a huge rivalry game for the second time this season, and this time the stakes were even higher.
For the first time since the school opened in 2010, the Rams are headed to a football state championship game after a 49-21 win over their nearby nemesis.
It appeared that may not be the case early on, as the Comets jumped out to a quick 14-0 lead after quarterback Noah Anderson hit Jayden Farrington for a deep 75-yard touchdown which was quickly followed by a 76-yard touchdown run for the visitors.
