Naomi Dwyer will step down from her role as chief executive of the Sunshine Coast Hospital and Health Service after three and a half years at the helm.
Professor Dwyer said it was time for her to stop and âsmell the rosesâ and spend more time with loved ones.
In a statement from the service, Prof Dwyer said it had been an âabsolute honourâ to lead the health service and its team of professionals.
âI am proud of the commitment of every member of our team, and I am humbled by the remarkable achievements that we have achieved together over the last few years,â she said in a statement.

Two people have been rushed to hospital after inhaling smoke from a house fire at Ninderry on Wednesday morning.
Emergency services were called to a Fairfill Road property about 8.30am to reports of a house fire.
A Queensland Fire and Emergency Services spokesman said the fire was inside the bottom floor of a high set Queenslander.

Police officers and paramedics were called to a Nambour store on Tuesday afternoon after an alleged assault.
Emergency services attended the store near Nambour Connection Road shortly after 2pm with reports of a disturbance.
Paramedics treated a man with an arm wound.

Subscriber only Major upgrades to a Sunshine Coast hospital will be completed a few months later than planned due to uncertainty during the COVID-19 pandemic. The $86 million Nambour General Hospital redevelopment is expected to be completed in 2023 despite initial time frames showing it would open by the end of 2022. Lendlease Building is the managing contractor and constructing the upgrade in several stages with the renal unit, medical imaging and mental health currently under way. Subscriber only A young woman who threatened to kill a nurse and spat in a Coast hospital during the COVID-19 pandemic has described her actions cringe-worthy, a court has heard. Shannon Lorraine Harriet Green had been taken from Caloundra Private Hospital to Nambour General Hospital when she became noisy and boisterous towards hospital staff. She was heard by the clinical nurse to say I will kill you and your family, words to that effect, police prosecutor Nick Nitschke said.
