These projects are expected to provide clean and safe drinking water to 8.78 lakh rural population across 1.37 lakh household in 565 villages of Jajpur and Puri districts of the state on completion, an official release said. These projects will contribute in achieving the goal of provision of drinking water to the rural population by 2022, it said.

Synopsis
To facilitate income enhancement, provide quality service and easy access to market and other facilities to rural population of Assam, there needs massive investments in rural infrastructure in sectors like agriculture and its allied services such as soil and water resource management, irrigation, rural connectivity, renewable energy etc., besides some of the social sectors.

NABARD has also sanctioned Rs 1150 crore to Government of Assam during 2020-21 under RIDF XXVI for creation of new infrastructure projects.
CSE to help set up 6000 FPOs
The Common Service Centre, a special purpose vehicle under the Ministry of Electronics and IT is planning to set up 6,000 Farmer Producer Organisations (FPOs). It has asked prospective candidates for the same.
CSE has promised to help submit the proposals to NABARD and SFAC, two govt agencies tasked with the assignment of help open FPOs. It bears recall that NCDC has also begun helping people to set up FPOs.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi has stressed that farmers should have the storage facilities near their villages. He called for the improvement of the system of taking the produce from the fields to processing units and emphasized that hand holding of these units be done by the FPOs.
