GUWAHATI: A delegation of the All India United Democratic Front (AIUDF) Member of the Legislative Assembly (MLAs) visited Assam Chief Minister Dr. Himanta Biswa Sarma at his office on May 20 and appealed not to conduct any eviction drive during this COVID-19 pandemic.
The appeal comes after; the state government conducted a massive eviction drive earlier this month in the char areas of Jamugurihat in
Sonitpur district which left several homeless.
According to reports, a vast area of the government land to the southern part of Jamugurihat had been encroached upon by illegal encroachers and nearly 20 families have constructed houses on the government land illegally which was later evicted.

Synopsis
To facilitate income enhancement, provide quality service and easy access to market and other facilities to rural population of Assam, there needs massive investments in rural infrastructure in sectors like agriculture and its allied services such as soil and water resource management, irrigation, rural connectivity, renewable energy etc., besides some of the social sectors.

NABARD has also sanctioned Rs 1150 crore to Government of Assam during 2020-21 under RIDF XXVI for creation of new infrastructure projects.

GUWAHATI: Assam Gramin Vikash Bank like previous years also celebrated International Women s Day with pomp and grandeur. The event was organized at Guwahati by the Women Development Cell of the bank. It was largely attended by the female staff of the bank. Nazneen Ahmed, Additional Secretary, Finance Dept and Eva Deka, Director, Institutional Finance Dept were guests of honour of the event. Both of them in their speeches appreciated the effort of the bank and called for empowerment of women for social justice. The meeting was also addressed by Debasish Gangopadhyay, Chairman of the bank. The event was coordinated by Gitarthi Baruah and Archana Das and the programme was anchored by Jahnobi Konwar, who outlined the objective of the programme.
