Dispatch File Photo Columbus and Lowndes County high schools offer students a program that allows them to get a jump on their education by attending a community college or specialize in a rewarding career through learning a skilled trade. Dual enrollment/Dual Credit is a program at East Mississippi Community College that allows eligible high school students currently attending public and private high schools, or students who are home-schooled, to simultaneously enroll in a college course. Dual-enrolled students can take classes through either the Academic Division or the Career-Technical Division.

Regents Appoint New Nevada State College President Published: April 29, 2021 HENDERSON, Nev. The Nevada System of Higher Education (NSHE) Board of Regents voted to appoint Dr. DeRionne Pollard as Nevada State College’s next president. She becomes the 8th president of the 19-year-old college. Pollard, who is currently president of Montgomery College in Maryland, will begin Aug. 16 and serve a four-year contract. “President Pollard is a highly respected educator and administrator. Her experience boosting student success and creating external partnerships at Montgomery College will serve NSC well,” NSHE Chancellor Melody Rose said. “Her knowledge and understanding of our student population affords her the opportunity to tell NSC’s vital story as its primary ambassador. I am confident Dr. Pollard is the right person to lead Nevada State at this time.”

In 1874, people gathered on the shores of Chautauqua Lake in New York State to enjoy speakers, teachers, musicians and specialists who entertained and educated members of the community, thus catalyzing an adult education movement that subsequently spread throughout rural America. Since 2014, Chattanooga State has hosted its own monthly Chautauqua to unite faculty, students, staff and the larger Chattanooga community in exploring a wide array of topics within the Humanities.
