Couples will form the focus of a new month-long trade initiative from the Malta Tourism Authority to help drive bookings this summer, despite missing out on being included in the UK government’s green list.
The Malta Tourism Authority is due to conduct agent training, a webinar in association with Travel Weekly and another with airline partner Air Malta, and release a series of videos featuring tour guides on the island to highlight the experiences available for couples.
There will also be a prize draw for an agent to win a holiday for two to Malta to experience the destination for themselves.

The Malta Tourism Authority has created an agent training course to help boost bookings to the island from the over-50s market.
The course features four lessons – Introduction; Where to stay; Dining out; and Venture out and about – and tools such as an events calendar which can be shared with customers.
Natalie Swinburne, trade marketing manager, UK and Ireland, said the course was created to instil confidence in the over-50s market to plan and book trips to Malta.
She said: “The pandemic has changed the travel landscape, and even the savviest silver traveller may be more apprehensive when it comes to planning a trip, so the advice and reassurance that a travel agent can bring is vital.
