VERMILLION – South Dakota Women’s Basketball will play two teams who also made this year’s NCAA Tournament in the Paradise Jam, set for Thanksgiving weekend in the United States Virgin Islands.
The tournament will be split into two divisions, the Reef Division and the Island Division. The Coyotes will be in the Reef Division and play Northwestern, a 2021 NCAA Tournament team, on Thanksgiving, Thursday, November 25 at 4:45 PM. Next will be Texas A&M, coming off a Sweet 16 appearance, on Friday, November 26 at 7:00 PM. USD’s third game will be against Pittsburgh on Saturday, November 27 at 4:45 PM.
VERMILLION – South Dakota Women’s Basketball will spend this Thanksgiving in a tropical place.
USD will be part of the Paradise Jam November 25-27 at St. Thomas in the U.S. Virgin Islands. “We’re really excited about the opportunity to travel to the U.S. Virgin Islands and play in one of the premier events in women’s basketball,” USD coach Dawn Plitzuweit said in a statement. “This tournament has always been very strong and this year is certainly no exception as we will face three really tough opponents in a 72-hour time period.”
All five starters, including Sully Buttes alum Chloe Lamb, will be included in 13 returning players for the Coyotes, who won their second straight Summit League championship this past season.
State prison inmate Abby Hall has died as the result of an apparent suicide.
Hall, age 32, was found unresponsive in a bathroom at the South Dakota Women’s Prison in Pierre yesterday (March 16, 2021). She was transported to a nearby hospital where she was pronounced deceased.
Hall was serving multiple sentences for unauthorized ingestion of a controlled substance from Codington County and Brookings County and a sentence for possession of a controlled substance from Minnehaha County.
