VERMILLION – South Dakota Women’s Basketball will spend this Thanksgiving in a tropical place.
USD will be part of the Paradise Jam November 25-27 at St. Thomas in the U.S. Virgin Islands. “We’re really excited about the opportunity to travel to the U.S. Virgin Islands and play in one of the premier events in women’s basketball,” USD coach Dawn Plitzuweit said in a statement. “This tournament has always been very strong and this year is certainly no exception as we will face three really tough opponents in a 72-hour time period.”
All five starters, including Sully Buttes alum Chloe Lamb, will be included in 13 returning players for the Coyotes, who won their second straight Summit League championship this past season.

VERMILLION, S.D. South Dakota women’s basketball earned a No. 11 seed and will play sixth-seeded Oregon at 9 p.m. on Monday in the first round of the NCAA Tournament held in San Antonio, Texas. The game will be televised live on ESPN2.
South Dakota (19-5) earned an automatic bid by winning the Summit League Tournament six days ago. This marks the Coyotes’ third-straight NCAA Tournament berth under Plitzuweit, nabbing back-to-back Summit tournament trophies in Sioux Falls.
It is the fourth NCAA Division I tournament appearance for South Dakota in nine years of eligibility. The Coyotes qualified for eight NCAA tournaments at the Division II level, including a runner-up finish in 2008 – the year before the program began its transition to Division I. USD is 8-10 all-time in NCAA tournament play.

A number-9 and a number-11 seed, our two South Dakota women s basketball teams are headed to the 2021 NCAA Women s Basketball Tournament. South Dakota State University (21-3) along with the University of South Dakota (19-5) are making their way to San Antonio, Texas.
The 9th seeded Lady Jackrabbits will play #8 Syracuse (14-8) in the opening round Sunday, March 21 at 4:30 PM. If you remember, this is a rematch. These two teams last played in 2019 to a Jack win that launched them into the Sweet 16.
This is the 10th NCAA Tournament appearance for SDSU and the first at-large selection.
