Launch of Oman Obesity Briefing Book to raise awareness on obesity

The Ministry of Health recently launched the Oman Obesity Briefing Book . This important document has been developed as a collaboration between the National Diabetes and Endocrine Centre (NDEC), the Department of Non-Communicable Disease, the Department of Nutrition, the Oman Diabetes Association and Novo Nordisk, a Danish multinational pharmaceutical company. The launch took place through a Hybrid event, with a number of representatives, renowned health practitioners and industry leaders from the Ministry of Health in attendance.
In his welcome address, H.E, Dr. Ahmed Mohammed Obaid Al Saidi, Minister of Health, said, “Oman faces a growing rise in the burden of obesity among its population. COVID crisis: 5.5 lakh migrants who returned to Kerala lost their jobs

Thiruvananthapuram, Jan 07: Amid the economic crisis induced by the coronavirus lockdown in the country, out of the 8.4 lakh migrants who have returned to Kerala from abroad since May last year, 5.5 lakh said they suffered a job loss, according to the Department of Non-Resident Keralites Affairs data.

Another big chunk of returnees, 2.08 lakh, stated that their job visas had expired or mentioned other reasons for their return. The rest include senior citizens, or children, and family members of expatriates.
Notably, NRI remittances into Kerala grew around 30 per cent during lockdown.
