Councillors will lead the measures at the local level
An all-party meeting chaired by the Mayor at the city Corporation on Monday decided to step up the COVID-19 preventive measures and awareness campaigns on the ground.
Councillors across all parties will lead the measures at the local level. A 25-member volunteer force will be formed in each of the wards, to work in coordination with the ward-level monitoring committees.
Active casepool rises to 15,205
The active COVID-19 caseload in Thiruvananthapuram grew to 15,205 on Sunday after 2,020 new cases were recorded in 24 hours. As many as 861 people recovered from the disease during the period.
According to official data, six more deaths have been attributed to the disease, taking the total COVID-19 toll to 953.
The deceased included four men, aged 68, 65, 64 and 59 years, and two women, aged 60 and 58.
48,572 in quarantine
The number of people under quarantine has gone up to 48,572 with 4,145 people being asked to go into isolation in 24 hours.
A total of 310 people were allowed to conclude quarantine after completing the mandated period without developing any symptom.

Bringing much relief, 711 people recovered from the illness in 24 hours. Thirteen health-care workers were among those who tested positive. The death toll rose to 944 after the recent death of a 62-year-old woman was attributed to COVID-19.
The district administration placed 4,069 more people under quarantine. The count of those being monitored for COVID-19 symptoms has gone up to 41,814. Only 298 people were permitted to conclude quarantine in 24 hours.
