₹58-crore plant at Aruvikkara was built using Central and State government funds
Prime Minister Narendra Modi will inaugurate the new 75-mld water treatment plant (WTP) at Aruvikkara, billed as the solution for the drinking water woes of the State capital, on Friday.
Constructed by the Kerala Water Authority (KWA) under the Atal Mission for Rejuvenation and Urban Transformation (AMRUT), the plant promises an additional 75 million litres daily (mld) to the city regions. Mr. Modi will attend the function, scheduled to be held at 4.30 p.m., via videoconference.
The ₹58-crore plant was constructed using funds provided by the Centre and State governments and the Thiruvananthapuram Corporation under AMRUT.

As many as 2,164 seats have been arranged across five theatres in the city
The silver jubilee edition of the International Film Festival of Kerala (IFFK) will get off to a start on Wednesday at the Nishagandhi auditorium here.
Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan will inaugurate the festival at 6 p.m. at a function to be presided over by Minister for Cultural Affairs A.K Balan.
Assembly Speaker P. Sreeramakrishnan will be the chief guest of the event. French New Wave filmmaker Jean-Luc Godard is to receive the Lifetime Achievement Award for this year. Filmmaker Adoor Gopalakrishnan will be accepting the award on Godard’s behalf at the inaugural function.
