With many COVID-19 asymptomatic patients now in home quarantine than in hospitals or first line treatment centres, the Thiruvananthapuram Corporation is set to deploy medical teams to check on them at their homes and also make available telemedicine facilities.

1,572 person recover, oxygen cylinders being procured
The district’s COVID-19 caseload continued to touch uncharted levels as 3,940 people were diagnosed with the disease in 24 hours. The test positivity rate rose to 24.3%. The active cases’ count stood at 23,000 on Thursday. As many as 1,572 people recovered from the illness. Twelve healthcare workers were among those who tested positive for SARS-CoV-2. The number of people who were quarantined has gone up to 64,569 in the district.

2,807 get the disease through local transmission
The district hit a grim COVID-19 milestone on Wednesday with the daily caseload crossing the 3000-mark for the first time since cases were first identified.
The district reported 3,210 new cases on Wednesday, even as the test positivity rate shot up to 22.3%. As of Wednesday, 20,606 people are under treatment for the disease in Thiruvananthapuram district, the administration said.
