(Photo: Assawin Pinitwong) TAK: Highway 105 was blocked by fallen trees and landslides between Mae Ramat and Tha Song Yang district during heavy rainstorms on Monday night. The highway was closed to traffic near kilometre marker 81 in Tha Song Yang district and also between Ban Samae and Mae Tuen in tambon Mae Tuen in Mae Ramat district.  The chiefs of Tha Song Yang and Mae Ramat district asked the army for help and the 33rd Mobile Development Unit was assigned the task.

Thailand’s Army Commander-in-Chief General Narongphan Chitkaewtae visited security units in Mae Hong Son and Tak provinces on Monday, to inspect their readiness to cope refugees from the worsening situation in the neighbouring country.

(Photo by Assawin Pinitwong) TAK: A fire destroyed at least 100 houses at Thailand s largest camp for Karen refugees, in Tha Song Yang district, on Tuesday night. There were no reports of casualties. The district office said the fire at Ban Ma Lae started in a thatched shack in the middle of the camp and spread very quickly to other houses. The refugees tried to put out the fire, forming lines to fetch buckets of water, as they made phone calls to the Tha Song Yang district office for help. Two fire engines were dispatched to the camp.
