EMMETSBURG GRADUATION 2021 EMMETSBURG GRADUATION 2021 After a year of unknowns and uncertainties, the seniors of Emmetsburg High School would graduate Sunday afternoon in a commencement ceremony held in the high school gymnasium. Led by Junior Class Marshals Dominique Biliran and Tyler Stokes, the seniors would take their seats among family and friends gathered all together for one of the first times in a long while. After enjoying a senior class video made by Mrs. Schany and Ms. Herrig, Taylor Steinkamp, Senior Class President and commencement’s Mistress of Ceremonies took the podium to welcome attendees and the Class of 2021. Among the speakers at this year’s ceremony were Salutatorians Cade Jacobson and Kady Traub, and Valedictorian Abbie Schany. The day would also include performances by the high school concert band, as well as “Seasons of Love” sung by the concert choir. Mitchell school board OKs raises for district administration

(Sara Bertsch / Republic) The Mitchell Board of Education on Monday night approved the annual compensation of several administrators with the Mitchell School District, following an executive session at the end of the meeting. In addition to the 14 administrator salaries, the board also approved a 3% raise for Joe Graves, superintendent for the Mitchell School District, bringing his salary to $154,403 for the 2021-22 school year. Administrator salaries are considered, adjusted if deemed necessary and approved yearly by the board.

MATT OLBERDING Lincoln Journal Star Unprecedented winter weather in Texas has caused oil and gas prices to rise.The frigid temperatures increased fuel demand but also halted wells and refineries across the state. Texas rare cold snap left millions without power last night in controlled outages.  Wahoo officials thought they were prepared for last week s historic cold snap. The city, which owns its own electric and gas utilities, had short- and long-term natural gas futures contracts in place, and it had a comfortable amount of natural gas in storage in Oklahoma, said Ryan Hurst, Wahoo Utilities general manager. But then temperatures dipped to record levels, with wind chills dropping as low as the minus 40s in Wahoo.
