WARREN – A Brookfield man pleaded guilty today to two felony charges connected to the sexual assault of a female relative.
John Emery, 54, of Warren Masury Road, will be sentenced by Trumbull County Common Pleas Judge Andrew D. Logan after he undergoes a background investigation conducted by the Adult Probation Department.
Emery, who pleaded guilty to charges of rape and sexual battery, could get a maximum sentence of 16 years in prison, Logan said. The defendant and his attorney John B. Juhasz had agreed to a plea deal with prosecutors in which one count of rape and two counts of sexual battery would be dismissed in exchange for his guilty plea. The plea hearing headed off a jury trial scheduled for this week.

Steward, based in Boston, Mass., is part of Steward Health Care, which owns Trumbull Regional Medical Center as well as other medical practices in the Mahoning Valley. An email was sent to Steward’s corporate office seeking comment about the lawsuit, but it was not answered.

Gregory A. Miller, 60, of Gypsy Lane, Niles, appeared with his attorney Robert I. Shaker during a plea hearing Tuesday before Trumbull County Common Pleas Judge Andrew D. Logan. Logan will sentence Miller after he undergoes a background investigation.
Miller remained free after posting a $7,500 bond. Prosecutors said some jail time will be sought for Miller, but the judge has the final decision.
