WARREN – A Brookfield man pleaded guilty today to two felony charges connected to the sexual assault of a female relative.
John Emery, 54, of Warren Masury Road, will be sentenced by Trumbull County Common Pleas Judge Andrew D. Logan after he undergoes a background investigation conducted by the Adult Probation Department.
Emery, who pleaded guilty to charges of rape and sexual battery, could get a maximum sentence of 16 years in prison, Logan said. The defendant and his attorney John B. Juhasz had agreed to a plea deal with prosecutors in which one count of rape and two counts of sexual battery would be dismissed in exchange for his guilty plea. The plea hearing headed off a jury trial scheduled for this week.
