Harvey Jackie William Oliver, 18, is facing three charges, including assault, affray, and intimidating a witness. He stood in the dock alongside his father, Carl Jan Oliver, 46. In response to each charge, Harvey Oliver entered clear not guilty pleas. District Judge John Temperley sent the case to Carlisle Crown Court for a hearing on May 25. A former Carlisle man pleaded guilty to a common assault on a woman, committed in November, 2019. Alasdair Drummond Johnston, 35, now living at Staffin, Scotland, appeared before Carlisle s Rickergate magistrates court remotely for sentence. District Judge John Temperley imposed an 18-month community order, with £85 costs and told the defendant to pay the victim £100 compensation as well as a £90 victim surcharge.
Target: The defendant stole from Boots in Carlisle A YOUNG Carlisle man has been banned from all retail premises after he admitted a shop theft and using threatening behaviour. Desmond Thomas Young, 27, of Balfour Road, who is also known as Desmond Humphreys, stole cosmetics worth £50 from Boots in Carlisle city Centre on February 7, the city s Rickergate court was told. On the same day, he used threatening and abusive behaviour, likely to cause harassment, alarm or distress. His case was adjourned until July 28 and in the meantime he must observe a daily 7pm to 7am curfew and he is excluded from any retail premises. The court record indicates no exceptions to the exclusion.
