Carlisle s Rickergate court A FORMER Carlisle man has been told to do 120 hours of unpaid work after he pleaded guilty to a common assault on a woman, committed in November, 2019. Alasdair Drummond Johnston, 35, now living at Staffin, Scotland, appeared before Carlisle s Rickergate magistrates court remotely for sentence. Prosecutor Geroge Shelly said the assault happened when the woman arrived at the defendant s then home address in Carlisle to retrieve a dog that they had shared custody of. There was verbal argument, said the prosecutor. The assault consisted of Johnston pushing the woman into the back door, causing some bruising. He also took her mobile phone from her and refused to return it, before yelling insults at her.
