Red Wolves trio earns SBC weekly track & field honors By Caleb Garner - Arkansas State Athletics | April 22, 2021 at 1:19 PM CDT - Updated April 22 at 1:19 PM Tremendous performances at the Red Wolves Open on Saturday by Arkansas State track and field’s Bennett Pascoe, Pauline Meyer and Frank Massey resulted in the trio earning Sun Belt Conference outdoor track and field weekly honors on Thursday. Pascoe was named the Men’s Track Athlete of the Week after breaking a 53-year-old school record in the men’s 1500m while Pauline Meyer also broke the women’s 1500m program record en route to being named the league’s Women’s Track Athlete of the Week. Massey cleared the seven-foot mark for the first time in his career, jumping a personal-best height three times and was named the conference’s Men’s Field Athlete of the Week.

The NAIA National Office announced its National Athlete of the Week selections for outdoor track & field on Wednesday. Matthew Van Eps of Dordt (Iowa) was named the Men’s Track Athlete of the Week after winning the 800 and anchoring the first-place 4×400 relay at the Sioux Falls Relay. Van Eps clocked a time of 1:50.3 in the 800 and led off the relay squad that finished in 3:16.08. Jacob Keitkamp of Doane (Neb.) was named the Men’s Field Athlete of the Week after winning the high jump at the Jim Dutcher Memorial Classic in 2.15m (7-0½). Keitkamp also recorded a new PR in the javelin of 58.45m (191-9).
