Senior Therese Olshanski finished within the top 10 in the 1,500-meter race.
The men’s and women’s track and field teams traveled to Fairfax, Va. on April 11 to compete at the George Mason University Spring Invitational. Both teams saw substantial amounts of success.
For the women, junior Ella Baran was the standout performance. She earned first place in the 5,000-meter run with a time of 16:40.85. This time was good enough to be the second-best time nationally in Division-III this season. The second-place finisher in the race finished 23 seconds behind Baran.
Baran talked about her top-two time.

I was recovering from a stress fracture and low ferritin levels in the fall, so going into this season, I had no idea where I was fitness-wise. The NAIA National Office announced its National Athlete of the Week selections for outdoor track & field on Wednesday.
Dylan Felger of Huntington (Ind.) was named Men’s Track Athlete of the Week after winning the 400H at the Warrior Opener in an NAIA-leading 52.79.
Bryan Terry of College of Idaho was named Men’s Field Athlete of the Week after winning three throwing events at the Grand View Invitational. Terry captured top honors in the discus, hammer and shot put with marks of 46.34m (152-0), 53.40m (175-2) and 15.40m (50-6¼), respectively.
Jakarri Alven of Aquinas (Mich.) was named Women’s Track Athlete of the Week after winning the 400 at the Warrior Opener in an NAIA-leading 55.64. That mark also broke a 14-year-old program record by more than one second.

TUCSON, Ariz. – Coming off of a successful showing at the Jim Click Shootout on April 10, Johnnie Blockburger and Samantha Noennig have earned Pac-12 weekly track and field honors.
On Saturday, freshman Johnnie Blockburger broke the Arizona all-time 400m record, clocking 44.71 to win the event. He previously broke the freshman record at the Willie Williams Classic with a time of 45.83. His performance makes him the first Wildcat to run the 400m under 45 seconds and replaces Bobby McCoy s record from 2008. His time currently ranks second in the country and in the world. Blockburger also competed as a part of the Wildcats winning 4x100m and 4x400m relays that rank 19th and 13th in the NCAA respectively.

Bralyen Brewer of Bethel (Kan.) was named the Men’s Track Athlete of the Week. Brewer set a PR in the 400 of 46.92 and helped the Pilots’ 4×100 relay squad finish second at the Loren Reusser Invitational.
Taylor Bottomley of Central Methodist (Mo.) was named the Men’s Field Athlete of the Week. Bottomley broke two school records at the CMU Invitational with big efforts in the hammer throw (55.88m/183-4) and shot put (16.43m/53-11).
Lauren Tamayo of Hastings (Neb.) was named the Women’s Track Athlete of the Week. Tamayo earned four wins at the Bronco Invitational, taking first in the 100H (14.23) and helping the 4×100 and 4×400 relay teams to victory.
