The owner of the city restaurant widely thought to be the finest in Liverpool for many years explained why they have closed their doors for the final time after more than two decades.
60 Hope Street shut due to the Covid-19 pandemic at the end of March 2020, and has not reopened at any stage during the changing easing of restrictions because it was not commercially viable .

Much loved independent Liverpool restaurant Maray is set to open a new site at Duke Street Market.
The new concept, named Sabich, will serve sandwiches, rotisserie chicken and sides, with the flavours and dishes all inspired by the Middle East.
Named after the site’s signature sandwich, Sabich is a combination of aubergine, eggs, tahini, and amba, served in a soft, pillowy pitta.
The new concept adds to the variety of kitchens the market is home to which includes Cuban-inspired Cahita, Italian Cucina Di Vincenzo, seafood specialist Kelp, Asian-inspired Ginger and steakhouse kitchen Bone and Block.

Graffiti Spirits Group has signed to open a restaurant occupying the entire ground floor of Bruntwood Works’ 18-storey office complex in Liverpool, which is undergoing a £3m refurbishment.
The leisure operator plans to create a restaurant and bar concept stretching across 6,577 sq ft at The Plaza, at 100 Old Hall Street in the city centre. Named The Plaza Restaurant and Bar, the venue is scheduled to open this summer and provide a new eatery in the heart of the L3 commercial district, according to Bruntwood Works.

A large new restaurant, bar and coffee destination will be opening in Liverpool s commercial district from the team behind Duke Street Food and Drink Market.
The Plaza Restaurant and Bar will see the city s iconic Plaza building reimagined and transformed into a flagship eating and drinking destination for Liverpool.
The venue will be taking over the ground floor space of the city s landmark building and plans include a restaurant, bar and coffee shop operated by renowned Liverpool hospitality brand Graffiti Spirits Group - who are also behind Bold Street Coffee, Salt Dog Slim s and 81 Ltd.
