All four of the Bridgeport Police Department’s cruisers are now equipped with automatic external defibrillators thanks to a $5,200 donation from the Community Foundation for the Ohio Valley.
A check presentation was held Sunday, although the funds were already donated and used to purchase the equipment earlier this month. Debbie Stanton, program officer at the CFOV, presented the department with the check. The foundation works with donors to create grants for organizations that help to improve the quality of life of those in the Ohio Valley.

BRIDGEPORT Local police officers helped ensure 25 children will have gifts this year for Christmas through the annual Shop with a Cop event.
The Bridgeport Fraternal Order of Police Lodge 211 and The Thin Blue Line FOP Associates Lodge 100 joined forces Saturday for the annual event that helps provide children in need with gifts for the holidays. Nearly a dozen officers from Belmont, Bethesda, Shadyside, Yorkville and Bridgeport police departments participated in the event.
Bridgeport Lt. Darby Copeland said he and fellow officers took 25 children shopping at Walmart in St. Clairsville and at Deluxe Novelty in Martins Ferry for gifts of their choosing. The experience was heartwarming, he said.
