Over 1.2 million more doses of AstraZeneca COVID-19 vaccine arrive in HCM City
A total of 1,228,500 doses of AstraZeneca COVID-19 vaccine arrived in Ho Chi Minh City on July 23 morning.
This is the fifth and also the biggest shipment of the deal to purchase 30 million doses signed between AstraZeneca Vietnam and the Vietnam Vaccine Joint Stock Company (VNVC) with support from the Ministry of Health.
To date, over 3.1 million doses of the contract have delivered to Vietnam. The amount accounted for approximately 37 percent of the AstraZeneca vaccine volume Vietnam has received, with the remainder coming from the COVAX Facility or donated by other countries.

Vietnam s largest waste-to-energy plant to become operational next month
The Soc Son waste-to-energy project is located in Nam Son Waste Treatment Complex in Hanoi, the largest one in Vietnam will start operating this August.
The move came to help handle the issues of waste treatment in Hanoi, a very frustrating problem for residents living near the Nam Son Waste Treatment Complex.
In recent years, the Nam Son complex has been in the news several times for a long-running dispute over land compensation that repeatedly caused local residents to block entry to it, resulting in trash piling up around the city.

Remittances to HCM City rise by 22.34% in first half of 2021
Remittances to HCM City topped US$3.2 billion in the first half of the year, a 22.34 per cent increase year-on-year.
Nguyễn Hoàng Minh, deputy director of the State Bank of Việt Nam’s HCM City office, said the growth was impressive considering the difficulties posed by the COVID-19 pandemic.
The remittances went mainly into manufacturing and other businesses, and ensure there was no foreign currency supply volatility, he said.

Parking space still big problem in capital city
A land plot of 7,000m2 planned for a new parking lot in Hoang Liet ward, in Hoang Mai district, Hanoi.
At 8am, Nguyen Ba Cuong from Thanh Xuan district in Hanoi stopped his car in front of the office of his partner in Linh Dam urban area in Hoang Mai district but could not find a single parking lot for his car. He had to park at an unauthorized parking site about a hundred meters away from the building.
