Feeding the Hungry in Wareham [TOWNSQUARE SUNDAY]
For more than 25 years, needy individuals and families in the Wareham area have continued to receive food supplies from Damien s Place, a food pantry located on Cranberry Highway.
The food pantry has been open two days a week during the pandemic, and Executive Director Jackie Arsenault says the demand for food has almost doubled during that time.
Arsenault says the pantry s 70 volunteers are busy six days a week, picking up food donations, unloading deliveries from the Greater Boston Food Bank and others, and opening the pantry to those who need help.

Zeiterion Hoping for a Better 2021 [TOWNSQUARE SUNDAY]
Its been almost a year since the public has enjoyed a live performance at the Zeiterion Performing Arts Center in New Bedford.
The COVID-19 pandemic forced the closure of the historic theater and prompted management to reduce the hours of some employees and layoff others. According to Executive Director Rosemary Gill, the Z lost 90 percent of its revenue.
The Zeiterion did attempt to keep the community entertained by hosting outdoor movies at the Whale s Tooth parking lot and continued to provide education programs remotely, but clearly, March 2020 to March 2021 was obviously tough going for New Bedford s No. 1 cultural venue.
The Vietnam Veterans Memorial Wall is an 80 percent replica of the Vietnam Wall in Washington, D.C.
The Fall River wall is located at Bicentennial Park and a volunteer committee heading the project is hoping for a dedication ceremony this spring.
The $1.4 million project began more than two years ago and faced some ups and downs, but Committee President Joe Marshall and others persevered, and it s now on the doorstep of completion.

Black in Business Forums on Zoom [TOWNSQUARE SUNDAY]
Once again, Zoom will be the platform for a series of programs about folks who are Black in Business.
The forums are sponsored by the New Bedford Historical Society and Buy Black NB as part of the Black History Month celebration. The Zoom meetings will start on February 25 with a discussion about black women in business.
Business people from our area will be telling their stories about the difficulties they faced in starting a business, and how they overcame those hurdles.
