Zeiterion Hoping for a Better 2021 [TOWNSQUARE SUNDAY]
Its been almost a year since the public has enjoyed a live performance at the Zeiterion Performing Arts Center in New Bedford.
The COVID-19 pandemic forced the closure of the historic theater and prompted management to reduce the hours of some employees and layoff others. According to Executive Director Rosemary Gill, the Z lost 90 percent of its revenue.
The Zeiterion did attempt to keep the community entertained by hosting outdoor movies at the Whale s Tooth parking lot and continued to provide education programs remotely, but clearly, March 2020 to March 2021 was obviously tough going for New Bedford s No. 1 cultural venue.
