Zeiterion Hoping for a Better 2021 [TOWNSQUARE SUNDAY]
Its been almost a year since the public has enjoyed a live performance at the Zeiterion Performing Arts Center in New Bedford.
The COVID-19 pandemic forced the closure of the historic theater and prompted management to reduce the hours of some employees and layoff others. According to Executive Director Rosemary Gill, the "Z" lost 90 percent of its revenue.
The Zeiterion did attempt to keep the community entertained by hosting outdoor movies at the Whale's Tooth parking lot and continued to provide education programs remotely, but clearly, March 2020 to March 2021 was obviously tough going for New Bedford's No. 1 cultural venue.
