Watch Out for Coronavirus-Related Scams [TOWNSQUARE SUNDAY]
With the latest surge of COVID-19 cases across the country, scammers are out in full force seeking to take your money.
According to officials with the Better Business Bureau of Massachusetts, scammers are sending e-mails or making telephone calls, offering consumers the chance to buy doses of the coronavirus vaccine or promising to deliver your stimulus check early, provided you share your account number and other important information.

A New Look at Early Childhood Education [TOWNSQUARE SUNDAY]
A new non-profit organization in New Bedford is advocating for changes in early childhood education.
New Bedford Children began operations in March. Its founder, Marissa Fay-Martin, has studied and worked in early childhood education settings and wants to share the techniques she s learned in Italy and Colorado with childcare providers, parents and educators here.
New Bedford Children is currently meeting with parents, educators and providers through Zoom and sharing new ideas about early childhood education. The agency is also campaigning to have local businesses support their programs.

Teacher of the Year Is Booster of NBHS [TOWNSQUARE SUNDAY]
Takeru Nagayoshi says he has great respect for New Bedford High School and its students.
Nagayoshi, the 2020 Massachusetts Teacher of the Year and a Horace Mann Award Winner, is an Advanced Placement English teacher at the high school.
Interviewed this week on
Townsquare Sunday, Nagayoshi praised the school s academic courses, sports programs, and non-academic activities like performing arts and music.
Nagayoshi also discussed the frustration teachers feel with remote learning, and what he felt was unfair criticism of NBHS several years ago in the media, when the turnaround plan was being implemented.
