The April 14 re-enactment took place at the Basilica del Santo Nino in Cebu City, which is believed to be the spot where Spanish missionaries gave an image of the Child Jesus (Santo Nino) to the wife of the island’s local chieftain.

What do we see in this? We see the universality of the Catholic faith,” said Brown. Brown said Filipinos have kept the Catholic faith alive even in foreign places. “What we celebrate with hearts with joy is the fact that in these five centuries, the Catholic faith has entered deeply into the Filipino culture and has produced a distinctively Filipino expression of the unchanging and universal truth of Catholic faith,” Brown said.

Vaccine rollout only for medical frontliners

Its available stock is only for medical frontliners. The DOH 7 issued the clarification after senior citizens showed up at a mass inoculation in one of Cebu City’s commercial malls on Thursday, April 15, 2021, expecting to be vaccinated only to be refused. Dr. Mary Jean Loreche, DOH 7 spokesperson, said that as of Thursday, they only had 178,560 doses of Sinovac available, 44,400 of which arrived in Cebu on Wednesday, April 14.

13,000 healthcare workers in Central Visayas complete COVID vaccination

Published April 14, 2021, 2:37 PM CEBU CITY At least 13,000 healthcare workers (HCWs) in Central Visayas have completed their COVID-19 vaccination. Data from the Department of Health-Central Visayas (DOH Region 7) showed that as of April 12, 13,405 healthcare workers have already received their second dose of the COVID-19 vaccine. Some 59,856 medical workers have yet to receive their second dose, said Dr. Mary Jean Loreche, spokesperson and chief pathologist of DOH Region 7. There were 73,261 HCWs who already received their first dose of the vaccine while 58,520 have yet to be vaccinated. The region has 131,781 HCWs who are qualified to receive the vaccine as part of A1 group in the priority list of the government’s vaccination program.
