ECP Leads the Way to Cross-Platform Tested and Verified Compilers for HPC and Exascale Architectures

The Exascale Computing Project (ECP) is working to combine two key technologies, LLVM and continuous integration (CI), to ensure that current and future compilers are stable and performant on high-performance computing (HPC) and exascale computer systems. The proliferation of new machine architectures has made the continuous testing and verification of software (hence the “continuous” in CI) an essential part of US Department of Energy DOE supercomputing.
Valentin Clement, a software engineer at Oak Ridge National Laboratory who is part of the team working to include LLVM in the ECP CI testing and verification framework, notes, “We are working to add CI for ECP-relevant architectures. Clent Morris stopped driving several years ago, sometime in his early to mid 80s, and when he needed a ride, Cheryl Jones was there for him.
The two were neighbors on Sheridan Avenue in Trenton, not a block from city police headquarters, and Jones looked after Morris, who lived alone, taking him on errands or to medical appointments.
“She was the one who took him everywhere. My mother did it when he had one else to,” her son Carl Jones said.
“My mother was the only one who helped him,” added his sister, Latasha Jones.

Authorities in New Jersey arrested an elderly man Saturday after he allegedly fatally shot his neighbor.
Authorities from the Trenton Police Department were called to a home on Sheridan Avenue just before 6:30 p.m. regarding gunshots fired in the area, ABC 6 reported.
On arrival, deputies found a 65-year-old female victim outside the home suffering from a gunshot wound. Police found the suspect, Clent Morris, 90, inside the home with an eye wound, the outlet reported. He was rushed to a nearby hospital for treatment.

A Trenton man who police say shot his neighbor to death was arrested moments after the crime, which occured on a side street across from police headquarters.
Trenton police detectives Jeffrey Vetter, Michael Gettler, and Gregory Woods were close enough to hear the shots at about 6:20 p.m. Saturday and responded immediately, Police Director Sheilah A. Coley said in a statement.
They arrived on Sheridan Avenue and found a woman suffering gunshot wounds, and learned the suspect was inside a nearby home. The officers arrested Clent Morris, 90, moments later and found the handgun he allegedly used, the statement said.
