90-year-old killed neighbor on street across from police department, cops say

A Trenton man who police say shot his neighbor to death was arrested moments after the crime, which occured on a side street across from police headquarters.
Trenton police detectives Jeffrey Vetter, Michael Gettler, and Gregory Woods were close enough to hear the shots at about 6:20 p.m. Saturday and responded immediately, Police Director Sheilah A. Coley said in a statement.
They arrived on Sheridan Avenue and found a woman suffering gunshot wounds, and learned the suspect was inside a nearby home. The officers arrested Clent Morris, 90, moments later and found the handgun he allegedly used, the statement said.

A 90-year-old man was arrested in connection with the deadly shooting of his female neighbor in Trenton Saturday, authorities said.
Police responded to Sheridan Avenue at 6:22 p.m., on reports of shots fired where they found a woman suffering gunshot wounds, Police Director Sheilah A. Coley said.
The woman was pronounced dead at the scene while the suspect, Clent Morris, was taken to a hospital for treatment of a wound on his eye, authorities said.
Morris and the victim apparently knew each other and have gotten into arguments in the past, police said.
Detectives with the Mercer County Homicide Task Force was investigating.

An investigation involving more than a dozen law enforcement agencies in South Jersey and Pennsylvania has resulted in the arrest of 18 gang members and seizure of large quantities of heroin, methamphetamines and marijuana, authorities said.
Mercer County Prosecutor Angelo J. Onofri said on Thursday that the multi-jurisdictional investigation of narcotics distribution and violent crime resulted in recovering 11 guns, 1,000 grams of heroin, 1,000 grams of methamphetamine, 15 pounds of marijuana, six vehicles and more than $22,000 in cash.
“Operation Eight-Ball was an enormous investigative endeavor and as a result, many violent offenders have been taken off of the street,” Onofri said said Prosecutor Onofri.

A six-month narcotics investigation on both sides of the Delaware River in the Trenton area led to 18 arrests, the seizure of dozens of pounds of drugs, 11 guns, six cars, wads of cash - and key intelligence that led investigators to solve two murders, police said.
The investigation, targeting Trenton’s “H Block” gang, also discovered that a Bucks County, Pennsylvania man was supplying North Trenton with heroin, authorities said. Investigators watched several drug deals, and arrested two men at a West Windsor hotel last week with a box full of heroin, which they’d apparently stashed in the woods nearby, Mercer County Prosecutor Angelo Onofri said in a Thursday statement.
