Brenda Carlson of High River received an Abbeyfield Canada award on May 29 to recognize her volunteer service to Abbeyfield High River House.
She was appreciative of the recognition she received from Abbeyfield outside in George Lane Park where she received a plaque.

Abbeyfield Canada is a national non-profit organization that provides affordable housing for elders. There are 20 Houses from Vancouver Island to Ontario.
Carlson was presented with a Robert McMullan Award for Volunteering Excellence. She has been involved in Abbeyfield High River since the House opened in 2007 and has served in many board capacities. She took on the job as resident intake and put a very qualified team together and filled the home with a family of seniors looking to continue their independent life with perks.

The most wonderful time of the year is just around the corner, and volunteers have been hard at work trying to bring Christmas spirit to High River.
Light up George Lane Park has beautified and lit up the park with Christmas lights. Volunteer groups like the Kinsmen Club and individual volunteers spent a lot of time getting the lights up. These lights weren’t free of course, as the organizers gathered funds to purchase them.
