International Women’s Day is celebrated annually on March 8.
“Women hold 40% of the elected positions within Solano County and 54% of Board of Supervisors appointed officials in leadership in the United States,” the resolution states.
The resolution was presented virtually by Supervisor Monica Brown to Laura Petty, chairwoman of the Solano Commission for Women and Girls.
The resolution also recognized Kamala Harris as the first woman vice president of the United States, and notes that “a record number of women were elected to the 117th Congress of the United States of America, making up 27% of the congressional seats, representing a 50% increase from the prior decade.”
