Women’s History Month presentation to feature Fairfield police chief

FAIRFIELD The new Fairfield chief of police will be one of four women featured in the third in a series Women’s History Month presentations by the Solano Commission for Women and Girls.
Deanna Cantrell, who was hired as the first female chief in the city, will be joined by Elease Cheek, a businesswoman, trustee on the Solano County Board of Education and president of the Black Chamber of Commerce; Cynthia Garcia, Solano Superior Court Collaborative Courts manager; and K. Patrice Williams, chief executive officer of BrandGOV Outreach and founder of Hazel’s Tranquility Place.
Press Release: Solano County Library Teen Writing Contest Winners
The Solano County Library is pleased to announce the winners of the 2020 Teen Writing Contest.
Teens ages 12-18 were invited by the Solano County Library to submit original short stories, poems, and essays last October for the Teen Writing Contest. The contest began in September and ended in October. Entries for the writing contest were judged by local dignitaries.
The winners will be published in an online journal that will be produced later next year.
The winners in the short story category are Niah Madigan, Kristen Dana Vinluan, and Sophia Samulde.
