SOUTH ROYALTON Sixteen points in the third quarter proved pivotal for the White River Valley girls basketball team, which took down visiting Green Mountain by a 36-31 final on Friday night.
The win is the first in a pair of games for the Wildcats this season. Despite this being the home opener in this abbreviated schedule, WRV also celebrated senior night. Senior Toni Turner helped set the pace with seven points while pulling down 15 rebounds. Fellow seniors Fiona Vaillancourt (three points) and Chelsie Trask also had key roles.
Our nearest neighbours are planning a monumental 72-hour live-stream event planned to celebrate St David’s Day.
The Welsh Government, and partners, have three days of live stream events, to highlight the importance of ‘doing good things’. The eclectic programme of events spans, arts, cultural, music, food, story-telling and stargazing.
The unique event will take place from tomorrow until Monday (St David’s Day March 1) and they want us to get involved too by logging onto visitingwales.com or their @walesdotcom social channels.
St David, the patron saint of Wales, believed in doing the little things that make a big difference hence the inspiration for this year’s ambitious celebrations.
How about a virtual trip to Wales this weekend?
While many of us are stuck indoors and international travel is a serious no-no for the time being, there’s no reason why we can’t immerse ourselves in other cultures from the comfort of our couches.
St David’s Day has gone online this year as a result of Covid-19, and this series of activities and events is a great way to celebrate our cross-cultural ties with our friends and neighbours across the Irish Sea. St David, the patron saint of Wales, believed in doing the little things that make a big difference and his most famous saying was ‘Do the small things.’
