Drug takeback events in Logan County announced

The dates are: Friday, April 16 — Tracy Vickers Community Center, 68 Boise St., Chapmanville Friday, April 23 — Logan County Sheriff’s Dept. Man Station (Old 7/11), 110 S. Bridge St., Man Saturday, April 24 — Walmart (Fountain Place Mall), Logan All three events will be held from 10 a.m.-2 p.m. “We encourage everybody to bring their drugs that no longer are needed, or someone has passed away,” said Logan County Sheriff P.D. Clemens. “Just bring your drugs up, we’ll take them.” The drug takebacks are sponsored by the LCSD, PIECES Coalition and the Logan County Prevention Coalition.

Cleanup and pickup events scheduled in Chapmanville

CHAPMANVILLE — A spring cleanup event is scheduled in Chapmanville this Saturday, and a free pickup for larger items is set for next Wednesday. The cleanup is part of the West Virginia “Make It Shine” campaign and is returning after a year off due to the COVID-19 pandemic. The cleanup will begin at 9 a.m. Saturday, April 10, at the Tracy Vickers Community Center at 68 Boise St. in town, and volunteers will work their way through town cleaning up trash and litter. Supplies like garbage bags, gloves and signs will be provided by the West Virginia Division of Highways. In the event of rain this Saturday, the cleanup will be rescheduled to Saturday, April 17.
