CHAPMANVILLE â The Chapmanville Town Council recently approved police chief Alan Browningâs request to purchase six body cameras for the townâs police department.
During his monthly report to the Chapmanville Town Council on Tuesday, April 13, Browning asked for the purchase of body cameras for each town officer, at a cost of around $300 a piece. Browning has previously inquired about the body cameras at several previous meetings, saying that they provide protection for both the officer and citizen.
Council made no qualms with Browningâs request, with councilman Robin Adams Mutters quickly motioning to purchase the body cameras. Mayor Joel McNeely remarked that the body cameras are much-needed.
CHAPMANVILLE â Lonnie Berry, who owns the Tudorâs Biscuit World restaurant in Chapmanville, addressed the Chapmanville Town Council during their regular session Tuesday, April 13, where he asked council to prohibit out-of-town food vendors.
âI pay for a business license. I pay property tax, extremely high property tax,â Berry said. âI have 25 employees at Chapmanville. CHAPMANVILLE â A spring cleanup event is scheduled in Chapmanville this Saturday, and a free pickup for larger items is set for next Wednesday.
The cleanup is part of the West Virginia âMake It Shineâ campaign and is returning after a year off due to the COVID-19 pandemic. The cleanup will begin at 9 a.m. Saturday, April 10, at the Tracy Vickers Community Center at 68 Boise St. in town, and volunteers will work their way through town cleaning up trash and litter.
Supplies like garbage bags, gloves and signs will be provided by the West Virginia Division of Highways. In the event of rain this Saturday, the cleanup will be rescheduled to Saturday, April 17.
