And local tourist attractions are preparing for a massive weekend.
The Prince Albert National Park (PANP) has long had both of its reservable campsites, the Beaver Glen and Red Deer campgrounds, fully booked up for the long weekend. They also expect its three first come, first served campgrounds near Namekus Lake, Sandy Lake, and the Narrows to be completely occupied as well.
“Long weekends are always busy at Prince Albert National Park. We’ve seen an increase in visitation all summer, even before the lifting of restrictions,” PANP’s Visitors Service team leader Jeff Wasylyk. And with the forecast that’s coming up this weekend with the sun and nice temperatures, we’re expecting that trend to continue this weekend. We feel that we’ll be very busy.”
SASKATOON The federal government has announced that starting August 9, fully vaccinated Americans will be able to enter Canada without needing to quarantine. That’s welcome news to outfitter Barry Prall, who co-owns Tazin Lake Lodge and Trails End Outfitters, where nearly 100 per cent of business comes from south of the border. “Hopefully everybody wants to come up … I think a lot of guys are nervous or feel that the Canadians don t want them to come, he said. “But a lot of these guys that come year after year after year they just can t wait to come back up here.”

Saskatchewan’s tourism industry breathed a sigh of relief on Monday when federal officials declared fully vaccinated Americans can once again enter Canada for leisure purposes without having to quarantine, starting Aug. 9.

Businesses hope it will restart an important part of the province’s tourism sector that was cut off by COVID-19.
Jeremy Harrison, Minister responsible for Tourism Saskatchewan, said he is “disappointed” by the timeline of the measures and the fact Saskatchewan is one of just a few provinces whose airports will not be able to welcome flights from abroad.
