Militants involved in creating volatile situation in Bangladesh

Apr 29 (IANS): Bangladesh Home Minister Asaduzzaman Khan Kamal said that government has noticed that identified terrorists and militants have become involved in politics and are creating a volatile situation in the country .
He said intelligence agencies are trying to identify the financers of Hefazat-e-Islam Bangladesh. Everything, from where the money is coming from to how much is going into whose account, he told IANS on Wednesday afternoon. Intelligence agencies are working to identify those who provide financial support to Hefazat. We have already learned some information about them, but we don t want to disclose that now. We will inform everyone once the investigation is over, the Home Minister said.

Dhaka, Apr 28 (IANS): Funds for militant outfit Hefazat-e-Islam, which was behind the widespread violence last month, was deposited into two bank accounts of its senior leader Mamunul Haque and the donors have been identified, Bangladesh Police said on Wednesday. We ve so far identified 313 people who have financed Hefazat on different occasions. We have found evidence of 6.47 crore takas being transacted to and from Mamunul s two bank accounts, Additional Commissioner, Detective Branch, of Dhaka Metropolitan Police, A.K.M. Hafiz Akhter told IANS.
Police would seek another seven days to interrogate Mamunul, he added.
Custody of Mamunul, 2 other Hefazat leaders extended

Dhaka, Apr 26 (IANS): A court in Dhaka on Monday extended, by seven days, the custody of Hefazat leaders Mamunul Haque, Junaid Al Habib and Jalaluddin Kashemi, in a 2013 case of theft, vandalism and massacre as well as fresh cases in connection with the violence last month.
Chief Metropolitan Magistrate Sadbir Yasir Ahsan Chowdhury extended the remand after the three were produced in court on Monday morning after their earlier seven-day remand ended.
The Dhaka Metropolitan Police s (DMP) Tejgaon Division arrested Mamunul, the main accused in the five-day violence orchestrated by his Hefazat and the Jamaate-e-Islami-BNP that left at least 17 dead, from Jamia Rahmania Arabia Madrasa in Mohammadpur on April 18.
