The Odisha government has decided to bear the education cost of children who have lost their parents to Covid-19.
Thirty-five children in the state have so far been orphaned by Covid-19.

Talking to the media on Monday, advisor to the women and child development department, Sulata Deo said: “The education cost of the children who have lost their parents to Covid-19 will be borne by the state government. Chief minister Naveen Patnaik has issued directions to bear the entire cost toward their studies in medical, engineering and technical courses also.”
Apart from this, she said the state would also bear the expenses of orphaned children pursuing courses in private institutions.
The conjoined twins, who were girls, died on Wednesday night, Dr Saroj Satpathy, superintendent of the children’s hospital in Cuttack said on Thursday.

A woman has given birth to a baby having two heads and three hands at a private nursing home in Kendrapara district on Sunday, doctors said.
The newborn with the rare medical condition was born to Umakant Parida and his wife Ambika, residents of Kani village in Rajnagar area, according to Odisha TV.
Dr. Debashis Sahoo, a paediatrician of the district headquarters hospital of Kendrapara said, “The newborn is eating with two mouths and breathing with two noses and is actually conjoined twin sisters who share a single body, three arms and two legs.”
“The baby was delivered by caesarean section at a private hospital and later shifted to Kendrapara district headquarters hospital. She is physically fit now, but we have shifted her to Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel Post Graduate Institute of Paediatrics (Sishu Bhawan), Cuttack, for specialized treatment,” Dr Sahoo added.

In a shocking incident, conjoined twins were born with two heads, three hands and two legs in Odisha’s Kendrapara district. The baby girls were born at a private nursing home in Kendrapara. After their health condition deteriorated, the conjoined twins were shifted to the district headquarters hospital.
Pediatric Consultant of DHH, Kendrapara, Debasish Sahu said the conjoined twins are a rare congenital anomaly and are joined at the chest and abdomen. Their condition is stable at present.

“We are referring the conjoined twins to the Sishu Bhawan in Cuttack. Like Jaga-Kalia conjoined twins, the present case is one of the varieties of the congenital anomaly,” the doctor said. After an ultrasound of the twins, details of the abnormality will be known, he added.
