Himachal Readies for Large Participation in Farmers Protests Feb 13 meeting to chalk out plan
Though miniscule till now, the participation from the hill state of Himachal Pradesh in the ongoing farmers’ movement against the controversial farm bills is all set to increase in the days to come. A movement against these laws was also expected in the hills of neighbouring Uttarakhand, but the glacial burst has thrown the state and its people into turmoil.
The tiny state of Himachal saw demonstrations at 22 places despite biting cold conditions on February 6 when there was a call for a ‘Chakka Jam’ across the country barring a few states.
The protest is getting support from various sections of society
JALANDAR: Support for farmers at Delhi borders has started growing even among urbanites. A cavalcade of vehicles will leave from Jalandhar on Thursday while several have already been to Singhu border and are already sending material required during the chilly weather.
“Those who are sitting there are very much our family and they are very much in our thoughts. As several people wanted to go there, we are planning to go there in a cavalcade of around 200 cars on Thursday morning. People from across the city are going to leave together,” said Jagjit Singh Gaba, president of Gurdwara Nauvin Patshahi, Guru Teg Bahadar Nagar, who also heads local Singh Sabhas. ] He said they would also be taking material like socks, detergent and blankets among others. A local businessman and social activist, Deepak Bali said he has already been to Singhu border and was planning to go there again in the next few days.
