The Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) on Tuesday accepted PML-N candidate Miftah Ismail’s request for a recount in the NA-249 by-poll and directed all the political parties to reach the office of the returning officer at 9:00 am on May 6 where the recounting would be held.
The recounting would be conducted for all the polling stations in the constituency.
Ismail had written a letter to Chief Election Commissioner Sikandar Sultan Raja, seeking a vote recount in NA-249 after he lost the poll by 683 votes in April 29 election. The PML-N had also requested the ECP to conduct a forensic audit of the votes in the NA-249 constituency.

ISLAMABAD: PML-N candidate Miftah Ismail’s plea for a recount in the entire NA-249 constituency has been accepted by the Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP).
In the order, the Election Commission has directed all the political parties to reach the office of Returning Officer at 9:00am on May 6 where the recounting would be held.
Ismail had written a letter to Chief Election Commissioner Sikandar Sultan Raja, seeking a vote recount in NA-249 after he lost the poll by 683 votes. PPP’s Qadir Khan Mandokhel had pulled off a surprising victory in the April 29 election.

ISLAMABAD: The foreign funding case against Pakistan Tehreek-i-Insaf (PTI) took a new twist on Monday when a key financial document placed for perusal by experts engaged by the petitioner was removed from the table following an objection by the ruling party.
Informed sources told
Dawn that the document removed shortly after being provided for perusal was an original copy of PTI’s HBL account’s statement.

The Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) on Tuesday accepted PML-N leader Miftah Ismail s application for a recount in the NA-249 Karachi by-election, ordering that recounting of the votes be done on May 6.
It directed leaders of political parties who had contested the by-election to reach the office of the returning officer (RO) at 9am on May 6 (Thursday) for the recount.
The ECP reserved its verdict on the application earlier today.
