Babar, filed an application before the Election Commission of Pakistan to allow perusal of original documents instead of photocopies and ensure that all the documents were presented before the financial analysts for review. It was learnt from sources while the perusal of PTI accounts by two financial analysts Arsalan Vardag and Mohammad Sohaib continued, Babar in his application detailed as to how allegedly the Scrutiny Committee deliberately tried to create hurdles in the perusal process. The application narrated how the committee refused laptops, bringing printouts, sharing piecemeal documents and removing the only original PTI bank statements presented for perusal Monday on PTI verbal demands.

In his application, Mr Babar has narrated in detail how the Scrutiny Committee formed for vetting the accounts has “deliberately tried to create hurdles in the perusal process”. National May 6, 2021 ISLAMABAD: The Election Commission of Pakistan’s scrutiny committee on Wednesday barred the auditors from bringing along printouts of the data manually collected the previous day in relation to perusal of PTI foreign funding case. The other day, a volume of PTI intra-party election was put before the petitioner Akbar S Babar’s auditors and removed after strongly agitated by them. It was learnt from the sources that Babar protested that this was unacceptable: Firstly, the Committee refused to allow laptops during perusal, now they were even refusing printouts of data collected manually and he insisted that the Committee could not be allowed to make a farce of the perusal process.

The laborious manual perusal is painstakingly slow as the two financial analysts, Arsalan Vardag and Mohammad Sohaib, representing the petitioner in the foreign funding case and PTI’s founding member Akbar S. Babar, have to manually record data from volumes and volumes and subsequently upload it on their computers for analysis.
