Top Story April 11, 2021 DASKA: The Pakistan Muslim League Nawaz (PMLN) Saturday unofficially won the high-stakes by-election in NA-75 Sialkot-IV with its candidate Nosheen Iftikhar bagging 111,220 votes defeating the PTI’s Ali Asjad Malhi by a margin of 19,201 votes. According to the unofficial results received from 360 polling stations, Nosheen Iftikhar was polled 111,220 votes with Ali Asjad Malhi trailing behind her with 92,019 votes. A wave of jubilation swept through the constituency with the PMLN workers and activists taking out rallies and distributing sweets to celebrate the victory. The polling started at 8am and continued till 5pm without break. A total of 360 polling stations were set up for 4,94,000 registered voters. Forty-seven polling stations were declared sensitive by the ECP.

AFP/File GUJRAT/LAHORE: In a rare re-election in an entire constituency (after the cancellation of the first ballot) in Punjab, people in NA-75 (Daska) will go to the polls on Saturday (today) in a charged atmosphere with expectations of a close fight between the candidates of the ruling Pakistan Tehreek-i-Insaf (PTI) and the opposition Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N). The Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) had withheld the results of the Feb 19 by-poll in NA-75 Daska due to violence, rigging and disappearance of over 20 presiding officers and ordered re-election in the entire constituency. The order was later upheld by the Supreme Court.

LAHORE: Chief Election Commissioner Sikandar Sultan Raja on Saturday said that a free and fair environment has been proved for a transparent election in the NA-75 Daska constituency. The CEC said this while talking to Geo News about the ongoing by-polls in Sialkot which is under strict scrutiny after the February 19 by-poll was aborted due to controversies surrounding the missing presiding officers and violence that claimed the lives of two people.

Chief Election Commissioner Sikander Sultan Raja will personally supervise the electoral process SIALKOT: Polling is underway in the hotly-contested constituency of NA-75 Daska with a tough fight expected between the ruling PTI and the PML-N. The Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) rescheduled the NA-75 Sialkot-IV (Daska) re-polls to March 18 at first then later to April 10 (today) as it declared the by-polls held on February 19 in the constituency void after clashes between workers of PTI and the PML-N. The mysterious disappearance of around 20 presiding officers and suspected tampering with the results was another cause to call for re-polls. The polling process will continue till 5pm without any break. Ali Asjad Malhi of PTI and Nosheen Iftikhar of PML-N are contesting in the constituency while Khalil Sindhu of Tehreek-e-Labbaik Pakistan (TLP) is also a contesting for the seat.
