Researchers show threats to coral reefs

Coral reefs are in danger. Experts say corals are facing a number of threats, from change in climate to diseases. But there s a group of scientists in West Palm Beach hoping to teach future generations the value of the Florida ecosystem. WPBF was invited inside for an exclusive look at one of Mother Nature s miracles that not a lot of people get to see. Inside the Reef Institute is an intimate research lab. Executive Director Leneita Fix said most of the corals inside their aquariums were rescued from Port Everglades and Fisher Island just off the coast of Miami. Their DNA will be preserved at the lab. Their hopes is to return the offspring to the ocean. We are the only facility holding this species of coral. It s called Favia Fragum looks like little golf balls, Fix said.This is the first time Coral Spawning has been witnessed outside the ocean during the Florida Coral Rescue Project. White Hall farm hosting Draft Horse Field Day Journal-Courier FacebookTwitterEmail Horses pull an old-time plow at the Gregory Farm in White Hall. WHITE HALL Gregory Farm in White Hall will host the 2021 Draft Horse Field Day starting at 9 a.m. Saturday. This is the first time in 16 years the Percheron Horse Association of America has held the event in White Hall. The free event is being held in conjunction wit the 200th anniversary of the Esarey family’s history. The farm was established in 1821 by Col. Charles Gregory. It operated as a breeding operation for Percheron for many years. Gregory Farm was the home of Carnot 66666 (66666), chief herd sire of the premier Percheron breeding operations of W.S. and Eugenia “Genie” (Gregory) Corsa, in the early 1900s.

Jeremiah 29:11 JOHNSON CITY - Janith Ellyn Norton Cunningham, 69, of Johnson City entered her Heavenly Home on Wednesday, February 10, 2021 after a battle with ALS. She gained her reward for a life well lived at Franklin Woods Community Hospital surrounded by her family. Jan was born in Johnson City, TN, on January 17, 1952, to Dr. William I. and Ellen Elsie (Skokan) Norton, who preceded her in death. She attended Fairmont Elementary, North Junior High, and Science Hill High School where she was a member of the graduating class of 1970. She dearly loved her high school classmates and some of her happiest times were spent planning and attending their many reunions!
