A man has died and another has been rushed to hospital after a boat capsized on a remote river on Friday morning.
Emergency crews were rushed to The Sandon on the Sandon River, 60km south of Yamba in northern New South Wales, about 7am following reports a boat had flipped over and two men were thrown into the water.
A 48-year-old man was pulled from the water after washing ashore but died at the scene despite members of the public trying desperately to revive him through CPR.

Tor Bay, Gower
When the tide is low, it’s easy to access this beautiful beach via Three Cliffs Bay; when the tide is high, clambering down the footpath is the only option, so, despite being in the popular south Gower, this sandy stretch is virtually empty when others are bustling. The nearest car park is in Penmaen village, a 20-minute walk away. There are no facilities or lifeguards, but for experienced surfers there can be good waves from mid to high tide.
